The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is designed for individuals who possess the skills, education, and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific Canadian province or territory. If you aim to live in a particular province and seek permanent residency in Canada, the PNP offers various streams tailored to different groups, such as students, business people, skilled workers, and semi-skilled workers. The following are the list of the Provinces and Territories in Canada – Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Yukon.

Program Overview:

1. Eligibility Criteria:
  • To be eligible for the PNP, you must meet the specific eligibility requirements outlined by the province or territory you are applying to.
2. Application Options:
  • Application processes depend on the PNP stream you are applying to. You may apply through the non-Express Entry process or through Express Entry.
3. Non-Express Entry Process:
  • Apply directly to the province or territory for nomination under a non-Express Entry stream.Application processes depend on the PNP stream you are applying to. You may apply through the non-Express Entry process or through Express Entry.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements of the nominating province.
  • If nominated, apply for permanent residence online.
  • Undergo a medical exam and obtain a police check (certificate).
  • Note: Application processing times are generally longer than through the Express Entry process.
4. Express Entry Process:
  • There are two ways to apply through the online Express Entry process:
  • Contact the province or territory and apply for nomination under an Express Entry stream. If nominated, create or update an Express Entry profile to reflect the nomination.
  • Create an Express Entry profile, express interest in provinces and territories, and wait for a “notification of interest.” If received, contact the province or territory directly and apply to their Express Entry stream.
  • Meet the eligibility requirements of the province or territory.
  • Submit an Express Entry profile, demonstrating that you meet the minimum criteria for Express Entry, including eligibility for one of the covered immigration programs.
  • If invited to apply, submit an electronic application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Important Considerations:

  • Regardless of the process, all applicants must undergo a medical exam and obtain a police check, irrespective of their intended location in Canada.
  • As of November 16, 2022, the National Occupational Classification (NOC) has transitioned to the 2021 version.
